Daniela Bernacchi è il nuovo Segretario Generale delGlobal Compact Network Italia (GCNI). Sarà lei, quindi, a guidare per i prossimi tre anni - insieme al prof. Marco Frey (Presidente) e in sinergia con il Consiglio Direttivo del Network – la Fondazione che ha mandato dalle Nazioni Unite di coordinare e promuovere a livello nazionale il “Global Compact” - progetto onusiano orientato alla promozione dello sviluppo sostenibile su scala globale. 

Dopo una carriera ventennale nel marketing di grandi e prestigiose multinazionali attive nei settori dell’editoria (Gruner und Jahr-Mondadori), entertainment (The Walt Disney Company) ed energia (Liquigas-SHV) - raggiungendo il ruolo di Direttore Marketing, Bernacchi ha proseguito la sua esperienza professionale in ambito non profit. Negli ultimi 12 anni, è stata Direttore Generale di due primarie organizzazioni non governative italiane, WeWorlde Fondazione Cesvi, entrambe impegnate in Africa, Asia e Sud America con programmi umanitari e di sviluppo, ed un focus particolare sui diritti umani e la crescita inclusiva e sostenibile. Fino a febbraio 2019, ha fatto inoltre parte del Board di «Alliance2015», network che riunisce 8 importanti ONG europee impegnate per la diffusione degli SDGs – Sustainable Development Goals delle Nazioni Unite in 89 Paesi del mondo.

Daniela Bernacchi is the new Secretary-General of Global Compact Network Italy. Consequently, she will be the person guiding - together with Professor Marco Frey (President) and in synergy with the Network’s Board of Directors - the Foundation for the next three years. The Foundation was appointed by the United Nations to coordinate and promote the “Global Compact” - the UN project aimed at promoting global sustainable development - at the national level.

After a twenty-year career in the marketing of large and distinguished multinationals operating in the publishing (Gruner und Jahr-Mondadori), entertainment (The Walt Disney Company) and energy (Liquigas-SHV) sectors - reaching the position of Marketing Director - Bernacchi continued her professional experience in the non-profit sector. In the last 12 years, she has been Director General of two leading Italian non-governmental organizations, namely WeWorldand Cesvi Foundation, both engaged in Africa, Asia and South America with humanitarian and development programs, and focusing particularly on human rights and inclusive and sustainable growth. Until February 2019, she was also part of the Board of «Alliance2015», a network which brings together 8 important European ONGs committed to the promotion of the SDGs – the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations in 89 countries worldwide.

- Mr. Starace is the only member of the UN Global Compact Board to come from the global Power Utility sector, as well as the only member from Italy

United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has re-appointed Francesco Starace, Enel Group’s CEO and General Manager, to the Board of the United Nations Global Compact (UN Global Compact) for the next three years (2018-2021). Mr. Starace was appointed for his first three-year mandate in May 2015. Of the new Board’s 21 members, Mr. Starace is the only representative of the global Power Utility sector, as well as the only member from Italy.

“Today as a society we face several very urgent issues and challenges. I am very proud to belong to the Board of the UN Global Compact which, through its vision and reach, not only sets out a clear roadmap for the sustainable development of the planet, but also empowers companies and communities to help address these challenges. As a global community we possess the resources and the know-how to meet all 17 of the UN Sustainable Development Goals, but we have to work collaboratively and quickly to forge the way ahead. I am grateful to the UN Secretary-General for the opportunity to continue to serve in support of this important objective,” said Enel CEO Francesco Starace.

Si è tenuta il 21 maggio presso la FEEM - Fondazione Eni Enrico Mattei a Milano la prima Riunione dei Membri Fondatori del Global Compact Network Italia per l’anno in corso, a cui hanno preso parte oltre 30 rappresentanti di aziende e organizzazioni aderenti. Tra gli obiettivi dell’incontro, quello di eleggere il nuovo Consiglio Direttivo e la nuova Presidenza del Network, nell’ambito del più ampio processo di rinnovo degli Organi Statutari che ha cadenza triennale.

Il nuovo Consiglio Direttivo è composto da 11 Membri di cui: - 8 sono professionisti di aziende attive in vari settori produttivi (in due casi, si tratta di PMI); - 3 provengono dal mondo non profit. Il rapporto business – non business all’interno del nuovo Board of Directors rispecchia perfettamente la composizione del Network al livello nazionale (2/3 imprese, 1/3 organizzazioni stakeholder). 

- Francesco Starace è l’unico rappresentante proveniente dal settore Utility Elettriche e l’unico italiano ad entrare nel Consiglio del Global Compact delle Nazioni Unite

 Il Segretario Generale delle Nazioni Unite António Guterres ha confermato Francesco Starace, Amministratore delegato e Direttore generale del Gruppo Enel, nel Consiglio di Amministrazione del Global Compact delle Nazioni Unite (UN Global Compact) per i prossimi tre anni (2018-2021). Starace, che era già stato nominato per il primo mandato di tre anni a maggio 2015, è l’unico rappresentante proveniente dal settore Utility Elettriche e l’unico italiano tra i 21 membri del nuovo Consiglio.

“La società odierna si trova ad affrontare questioni e sfide molto urgenti. Sono molto orgoglioso di far parte del Consiglio di Amministrazione del Global Compact delle Nazioni Unite che, attraverso la sua visione e la sua attività, non solo disegna una chiara roadmap per lo sviluppo sostenibile del pianeta, ma abilita aziende e comunità a contribuire alla risoluzione di queste sfide. Come comunità globale abbiamo le risorse e il know-how per raggiungere tutti i 17 Obiettivi di Sviluppo Sostenibile dell’ONU, ma dobbiamo lavorare insieme e velocemente per delineare il percorso davanti a noi. Ringrazio il Segretario Generale delle Nazioni Unite per l’opportunità concessami di continuare a lavorare per la realizzazione di questo importante obiettivo”, ha dichiarato  Francesco Starace, Amministratore delegato di Enel.

A partire da gennaio 2018 il Global Compact delle Nazioni Unite (UNGC) ha lanciato un nuovo modello di governance che prende il nome di “One Global Compact”. Obiettivo dell'UNGC è rafforzare il proprio impegno nell’affiancare le aziende in tutto il mondo nell’integrare i Dieci Principi all’interno delle proprie strategie e operazioni e nel realizzare i 17 Obiettivi previsti dall’Agenda 2030.

In un contesto geopolitico internazionale incerto e in un mondo dove persistono povertà estrema e disuguaglianze e il cambiamento climatico rappresenta un’emergenza sempre più urgente, il Global Compact rappresenta uno dei veri e propri fari per un mondo più sostenibile e sicuro. I Dieci Principi non sono mai stati più importanti, fornendo un quadro etico e di business per aiutare il settore privato a generare valore, rafforzando i principi e diritti fondamentali.

L’evento è stato organizzato dal Global Compact delle Nazioni Unite in collaborazione con il Global Compact Network Argentina e ha riunito leader locali e globali in rappresentanza di aziende, società civile, Governi, Network Locali del Global Compact, Nazioni Unite con l’obiettivo di catalizzare l’azione e l’impatto sui 10 Principi e i Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

In vista del successivo meeting globale - che si terrà nella seconda parte dell’anno e sarà dedicato ad un confronto sui progressi registrati al livello nazionale nell’implementazione degli SDGs - Making Global Goals Local Business – Argentina ha rappresentato un'opportunità per le imprese di tutto il mondo di prender parte attivamente alla condivisione dello stato dell’arte registrato in tutta l'America Latina con riguardo al perseguimento dell’Agenda 2030 per lo Sviluppo Sostenibile. L’Argentina, in particolare, è un buon esempio di collaborazione multistakeholder a supporto dei Global Goals, dal quale tutti i presenti hanno potuto prendere spunti ed ispirazione.

The event was organized by the United Nations Global Compact in collaboration with the Global Compact Network Argentina and brought together local and global leaders representing firms, civil society, governments, and the UN Global Compact local networks, with the aim of catalysing the action and impact on the 10 Principles and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

In view of the next global meeting - which will be held during the second half of the year and will be dedicated to a discussion on the progress made at national level on the implementation of the SDGs - Making Global Goals Local Business – Argentinarepresented an opportunity for firms all over the world to take an active part in sharing the current status recorded throughout Latin America with regard to the pursuit of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Argentina, in particular, is a good example of multi-stakeholder collaboration in support of the Global Goals, from which all those present were able to take insights and inspiration.

This year’s first meeting of the Founding Members of Global Compact Network Italy was held on May 21 at FEEM - Fondazione Eni Enrico Mattei, in Milan. More than 30 representatives of member companies and organizations took part in the meeting. One of the objectives of the meeting was to elect the Network’s new Board of Directors and administration as part of the wider renewal of the Statutory Bodies, which takes place every three years.

The new Board of Directors is composed of 11 Members including: - 8 professionals from companies (two of them being SMEs) active in various production sectors; - 3 from the non-profit world. The business/non-business relationship within the new Board of Directors perfectly reflects the composition of the Network at the national level (2/3 companies, 1/3 stakeholder organizations). 

In January 2018 the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) launched a new governance model called "One Global Compact". The UNGC’s aim is to strengthen its commitment to supporting companies all over the world in their integration of the Ten Principles into their strategies and operations and in their implementation of the 17 Goals envisaged by the 2030 Agenda.

In an uncertain international geopolitical context and in a world where extreme poverty and inequality persist and climate change has become an increasingly urgent emergency, the Global Compact is one of the real guiding lights for a more sustainable and secure world. The Ten Principles have never been more important, providing an ethical and corporate framework to help the private sector generate value, strengthening fundamental rights and principles.

In data 28 aprile 2022, i Membri Fondatori dell’UN Global Compact Network Italia hanno eletto il nuovo Consiglio Direttivo che guiderà la rete locale del Global Compact delle Nazioni Unite fino alla primavera del 2025. Fra i tredici professionisti della sostenibilità eletti ieri dall’Assemblea, diverse conferme rispetto al precedente mandato e nuovi prestigiosi ingressi. Marco Frey è stato nominato Presidente per il terzo mandato consecutivo.
