In 2023, UN Global Compact Network Italy established a Working Group on Sustainable Procurement, with the aim of deepening the issue of sustainable supply chain management as a cross-cutting aspect that links the social, environmental and economic dimensions and through which the private sector can have a concrete and positive impact on the 2030 Agenda.
The Working Group is formed of a small number of business organizations participating in the UN Global Compact and it is aimed, in particular, at corporate representatives from procurement divisions to raise awareness on sustainable development issues. Participation in the Working Group is by invitation only.
For the current year, 3 meetings are planned, respectively focusing on each of the three ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) dimensions. The work will conclude with a larger final meeting where suppliers will also be involved, to triangulate with stakeholders involved in supply chains.
The 2023 activities are implemented with the support of Edison.
