Since its inception in 1995, Intesys has paid close attention to the social sector by supporting and funding various projects, especially in developing countries.

Until the company wondered how to make its specific technical-IT skills available in the social sphere.

This led to the decision to support the Association "Developers without borders", active in Italy since 2005, and, in particular, its Open Hospital project.

Open Hospital is an open source and free software for the clinical and administrative management of hospitals, clinics, day hospitals in developing countries.

Developed since 2005 and available on the internet since 2008, it has counted up to now about 500,000 downloads.

With a corporate volunteer project approach, which uses employee time to support and develop social initiatives, Intesys has taken on the task of reorganizing the project with three objectives:

  • widen the community of the open source project developers by simplifying and documenting the technical activities to be performed by voluntary software programmers;
  • create and maintain a website dedicated to Open Hospital in order to make the project visible on the network;
  • migrate to a new software architecture that allows the development of a new software version, which can be used via WEB and via Mobile APP.

Intesys is increasingly focusing on open source products and logic and decided to participate in this totally non-profit project in order to dive more into the open source approach, not only for its technological aspects but also because inspired by a concept of sharing opportunities, knowledge and skills. Intesys truly believes in and shares these values, which are in line with the objectives of the Global Compact.
