Climate Week NYC is an annual summit boosting high-level meetings between the worlds of business, government and society who are leading the low carbon transition.

FEEM has organized a side event about “Sustainable Development Goals: New Metrics for Monitoring, Verifying and Assessment” on September 24 at 18:30pm at the United Nations. It presents and discusses approaches and methodologies to measure, verify and assess Sustainable Development Goals. The side event will present the preliminary results of FEEM’s APPS (Assessment, Projections and Policy of Sustainable Development Goals) project for about 140 countries, as well as a preliminary sustainability ranking. Experts from governments and other relevant organizations will provide their input to assess and further improve the proposed methodologies.

FEEM has also jointly organised with France Stratégie a high-level event on “Funding Low Carbon Transition: the Role of the Financial System” gathering top-level experts and policymakers in the fields of climate change, finance, and monetary policy, to discuss the possible contributions of financial mechanisms for carbon emission reductions. This event will be held on September 24 at 10:00am at the United Nations.

The aim of this high level event will be to assess the effectiveness of various financial mechanisms that can be activated by private and public operators in order to foster carbon reductions and to enforce and implement the “Intended Nationally Determined Contributions”. Experts and policymakers will also discuss whether there is scope - at a national, regional, or international level - for an agreed definition of an “economic and social value” of mitigation actions that could anchor private and public investments.
