    In October 2023, the UN Global Compact Network Italy launched the new Guidelines “How to Develop a Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Policy,” produced as part of the D&I Observatory in collaboration with the International Labour Organization (ILO) and the Italian Association of Staff Management (AIDP). The document presents the main trends on DE&I among the Italian private sector and shares useful recommendations for drafting and adopting corporate policies on Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, through the perspective of processes, contents as well as roles and responsibilities related to its implementation. The document also presents 11 best practices collected between the Observatory’s participating companies, with reference to their own DE&I policies, strategies and projects. The companies involved in the publication are: Vector Spa, FS Group, Enel, TELT, Edison Group, Mediobanca Group, Feralpi Group, A2A, Zobele Group, UniCredit and Leonardo.

    Report Italian Businesses Practices Towards Sustainable Development

    In December 2023, the UN Global Compact Network Italy presented the Research “Italian business commitment towards net-zero”, produced in partnership with IPSOS and with the support of Edison. The main purpose of the survey is to showcase the state of the art regarding the commitment and action of Italian companies on climate change issues and, in particular, on achieving the net-zero targets, highlighting typical drivers and barriers for the Italian private sector. The analysis delved into the phenomenon by comparing companies participating in the UN Global Compact and those outside the UN initiative and emphasizing differences in terms of company size and industry sectors. The Research Report was presented for the first time internationally on December 10, 2023, as part of COP28 in Dubai

    Report Italian Businesses Practices Towards Sustainable Development

    In November 2022, the UN Global Compact Network Italy published the English version of the Position Paper “Sustainable Supply Chain Management: responsibility and opportunity for businesses”. It has been produced by the Italian Network with the contribution of more than 30 Italian companies participating in the UN initiative and particularly committed to the issue. The purpose of this paper is to showcase and enhance the commitment of Italian companies to sustainable supply chain management, while highlighting the private sector’s responsibility and opportunity to engage all players across the supply chain. This paper discusses the theme in terms of three main pillars, namely: the reduction of Scope 3 emissions; the promotion and protection of human rights and decent work; and the circular management of negative externalities. The paper presents about 30 business best practices and various platforms and tools useful for supplier engagement. The companies involved in the publication are: Andriani, Aeroporti di Roma, Bolton Group, Brembo, Carbonsink Group, Edison, Enel, Eni, Esselunga, Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane, Hera, Illycaffè, Inwit, Iren, Leonardo, Maire Tecnimont, Nestlè Group in Italy, Pirelli, Poste Italiane, Prysmian, Saipem, Snam, Sofidel, Terna, Tper, Webuild.

    Report Italian Businesses Practices Towards Sustainable Development

    In December 2021, the UN Global Compact Network Italy produced the paper “Guidelines on Diversity & Inclusion in the workplace”, in partnership with ILO - International Labour Organization (Italian Office) and AIDP - Italian Association of Staff Management. The paper is final output of the D&I Observatory, established in 2021 by UNGCN Italy with the participation of 17 Italian companies adhering to UN Global Compact . It collects several business best practices related to “Principle 6” of the UN Global Compact, which promotes the elimination of all forms of discrimination in respect of employment and occupation. The paper shows business initiatives, projects and strategic approaches on the topics of inclusive leadership, equal opportunities and treatment, considering specific groups of people: women, migrants and young people. In the light of the analysis of the regulatory context and the experiences described, the Guidelines formulate a series of Recommendations addressed to business organizations and applicable across all levels and functions within them. The companies involved in the publication are: Andriani, Artsana, Brembo, Crédit Agricole, Edison, Hera, Enel, Inwit, Leonardo, Mediobanca, Snam, Tper, UniCredit, Kohler.

    Report Italian Businesses Practices Towards Sustainable Development

    In January 2022, the UN Global Compact Network Italy published the Position Paper "Italian Business and Decarbonization: a just and inclusive transition", written in 2021 with the active contribution of companies adhering to the UN Global Compact and highly committed to SDG 13 - Climate Action. The launch event, held on January 19, 2022, in live streaming from the Italy Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai, was organized in partnership with the Commissariat General of Italy for Expo 2020 Dubai. Guests of Honour were Sanda Ojiambo, CEO & Executive Director of the UN Global Compact and Paolo Glisenti, Commissioner General of Italy for Expo 2020 Dubai. The Paper aims to highlight the commitment toward decarbonization of Italian companies adhering to the UN Global Compact, deepening the endeavours made and the achievements gained so far to support the Paris Agreement’s goals and the European ambition to achieve climate neutrality by 2050. The document gathers about 30 business cases for the SDG 13 furtherance.

    In December 2016, the Global Compact Network Italy started working on a new collection of business practices focusing on the implementation of strategies, policies and projects to support the achievement of the United Nations' 17 Sustainable Development Goals 2030. Since then, an intense and ongoing dialogue and research has been carried out involving 11 organizations belonging to the GCNIand has culminated in the publication of the Report “ITALIAN BUSINESSES: PRACTICES TOWARDS SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT.Following the path defined by the Sustainable Development Goals.

    The report was launched at the Conference on “The Sustainable Development Goals: Experiences and Progress on Their Implementation in Europe”, which was held on 25th October at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, in the presence of Lise KINGO, Executive Director of the UN Global Compact and other illustrious guests.

    In the Autumn of 2015, the Global Compact Network Italy Foundation published the Report “MAKING THE CASE. Business, biodiversity and ecosystem services as a tool for change” in collaboration with researchers at the Institute of Management at the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna in Pisa and with the support of Terna SpA. The document was first presented at international level, at the II EU B@B Platform Annual Conference (Brussels, 27th October 2015) and then in Italy, as part of the fourth edition ofthe States General of the Green Economy (Rimini Fiera, 3rd November 2015).

    In 2012, at the Conference on Sustainable Development "Rio + 20" (13 to 22 June, Rio de Janeiro), the Global Compact Network Italy produced a second version of the Best Practices Collection ("The European UN Global Compact Companies Towards Rio + 20 and Beyond - A Best Practices collection "). Compared to the previous publication (2011), this second collection is characterized by the presence of 50 new corporate case studies described in the document.

    In 2011,on the occasion of the last European UN Global Compact Local Networks Meeting(Rome, 26-28 October), the Global Compact Network Italy published the following European best practices collection. The best practices collection contains forty-nine articles written by companies that operate in fifteen different European countries: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Russia, Serbia, Spain and Sweden. All the articles included in this collection focus on sustainability development initiatives and programs carried out by European companies participating to the UN Global Compact, to help advance sustainable business models and markets coherentlywith the Rio+20 logic.

    In 2010, on the occasion of the last Leaders Summit(24-25 June),the Global Compact Network Italy published a Best Practices Collection. The publication can certainly be considered to be a first attempt to showcase some of the most interesting experiences implemented by the Italian companies and organizations within the UN Global Compact framework. The practices have been selected following a double criterion. Some of them can be considered as real "best practices": they are related to very innovative programs or activities carried out by companies and/or organizations in implementing the ten UN Global Compact principles or in support of broader UN goals. Others, in line with the UN Global Compact approach, can be more correctly defined "on progress programs" such as programs and/or activities implemented by companies and organizations that are not characterized by an innovative approach but are still very interesting in a "learn from each other's experiences" logic. They are indeed, simple but very effective programs and/or activities, which can be extremely interesting for new UN Global Compact participants and/or for the numerous SMEs that participate in the initiative.

    Guidelines to Italian enterprises' social responsibility: a reconnaissance on the UN Global Compact adherent companies – second edition, 2009. The study seeks to outline the characterizing elements of the corporate citizenship's policy of the Italian companies adhering to the initiative. As for the previous edition, the sources employed in the reconnaissance have been the companies' information/communication apparatus.

  • 4^ Business & SDGs Workshop | Diversity e gestione della salute e sicurezza nei luoghi di lavoro (13 dicembre, Roma)

    INTRO
    La gestione della diversity in azienda fa riferimento all’insieme di pratiche che consentono un adeguato riconoscimento e valorizzazione di ogni forma e dimensione di diversità: dall’età, al genere, l’etnia, lo stato familiare e socio-economico, le abilità mentali e fisiche, la religione, l’orientamento sessuale, la formazione e le precedenti esperienze lavorative, la lingua e molti altri.

    Una risposta a questa diversità sarà sempre più importante e necessaria, tanto per le istituzioni pubbliche quanto per le aziende private, per restare efficaci, competitive e sicure. Ai fini di valorizzarne e raccoglierne le positività, le sinergie, le potenzialità di innovazione, di riduzione e gestione dei rischi, di incremento della produttività, la diversità da sola non è sufficiente,è necessaria una leadership inclusiva. La stessa leadership che, come mostrato da J. Schmitz e N. Curl (2006), consente di diffondere e affermare un'efficace cultura della salute e sicurezzasul luogo di lavoro. I leader inclusivi, infatti, sono coloro che si impegnano costantemente nello sviluppo e supporto dei propri team, consentendo ai dipendenti di esprimere preoccupazioni e opinioni ma, allo stesso tempo, dando spazio a creatività e innovazione.

  • Diversity & Inclusion in azienda: avviati i lavori dell’Osservatorio UNGCN Italia per il 2023

    Ieri 8 febbraio, si è tenuto il primo incontro del 2023 dell’OsservatorioDiversity & Inclusion in azienda, istituito dal Network italiano del Global Compact delle Nazioni Unite con lo scopo di raccogliere le esperienze e le prospettive in ambito D&I di grandi imprese italiane aderenti all’iniziativa onusiana.

    Per l’anno in corso, l’obiettivo del percorso è di redigere una proposta dipolicysulla D&Idestinata alle imprese di ogni dimensione e settore produttivo. L’intento è di pubblicare un documento che possa fungere da guida sia per le aziende che si approcciano per la prima volta al tema della Diversity, sia per quelle che hanno già sviluppato un percorso strategico e intendono scalare il proprio impegno.

  • Diversity & Inclusion in azienda: UN Global Compact Italia presenta le nuove Linee Guida

    L’UN Global Compact Network Italia lancia le nuove“Linee Guida suDiversity & Inclusion in azienda” prodotte in partnership con ILO – Organizzazione Internazionale del Lavoro (Ufficio per l’Italia) e AIDP – Associazione Italiana Direzione Personale. Il documento è stato presentato il 16 dicembre 2021 nell’ambito di un Webinar a cui si sono iscritti oltre 300 professionisti della Corporate Sustainability, dell’area HR e Diversity Manager.

    Le Guidelines rappresentano l’output finale del primo anno di attività dell’Osservatorio D&I, che continuerà nel 2022 ed è stato istituito nel 2021 dal Network italiano dell’UN Global Compact con il coinvolgimento di 17 grandi aziende aderenti impegnate sullo sviluppo sostenibilee provenienti da vari settori.

  • UNGCN Italia presenta “Linee Guida Diversity & Inclusion in azienda”

    Dall’esperienza dell’Osservatorio D&Ilanciato dall’UN Global Compact Network Italia inpartnership con OIL - Organizzazione Internazionale del Lavoro e con il supporto di AIDP - Associazione Italiana Direzione Personale, nascono le Linee Guida sul tema della Diversity & Inclusion in azienda. Il documento raccoglie best practices e normativa rilevante al livello nazionale ed internazionale, riflessioni e raccomandazioni, aspirando ad essere uno strumento pratico ed innovativo per sviluppare e potenziare un approccio sostenibile e efficace nella gestione delle Persone in azienda.

    L’evento sarà l’occasione per presentare il percorso realizzato dal tavolo di lavoro costituito all’interno dell’Osservatorio ed approfondire obiettivi e contenuti della pubblicazione che ne costituisce l’output finale.
