gcniIn Prague on 5th and 6th of May there was a meeting of the Local European Networks (LNs) of the United Nations Global Compact in which the Global Compact Network Italy Foundation (GCNI Foundation) participated with a delegation. The meeting resulted in an interesting and profitable opportunity to discuss and reflect together about actions and projects shared across Europe.

On 5th May, the Local Networks worked alongside the Executive Director of the UN Global Compact (UNGC), Lise Kingo, in revising the 2020 strategy. In the new and challenging global context of sustainability, defining themselves with the launch of the 2030 Agenda and its Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the achievement of the Paris Agreement on climate, the UNGC has indeed felt the need to take the opportunity to renew its strategy (process conducted with the help of consultancy firm Accenture). The comparison with the European LNs has been one step in a much broader consultation that, since March 2016, has been addressed to all the stakeholders of the largest corporate sustainability initiative in the world.

The GCNI Foundation has also been able to share what until now has been implemented at national level with regard to 2030 Agenda and the SDGs, reporting the results of the Conference "The Sustainable Development Goals and the Paris Climate Conference: a new era for business?", event organized on last 15th of March in collaboration with Assolombarda, CSR Manager Network, Sodalitas Foundation.

Also, on 4th May, the Global Summit on Corporate Sustainability was held, once again in the Czechoslovak capital, hosting high-level speakers from both the business world and social entrepreneurship.
